Heavy fighting involving a main Moro rebel group and its breakaway group erupted late Thursday in the southern Philippine province of North Cotabato, forcing thousands of civilians to evacuate, a military official said.
At least 20 members of a renegade Muslim rebel group were reportedly killed as government forces shelled and assaulted their training camp in southern Philippine province of Maguindanao, the military said Tuesday.
