Located in Jinzhong Basin of Shanxi Province, the 2700-year-old Pingyao Ancient Town is one of the most well-preserved ancient towns in China. Pingyao, which was added to the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1997, attracts numerous tourists from all over the world.
"In Ningbo, Shanghai and Xi'an, tall buildings are everywhere. Pingyao is a very nice change. I like the atmosphere here," said french tourist Elene Bonnet, 60.
