Pakistan said the quartet on peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan is still intact and that political negotiation is the best option to solve the years of conflict.
As senior officials from Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the United States are scheduled to meet in Islamabad soon to discuss prospects for the Afghan peace process, Pakistan believes political negotiation is still the best option to find a solution to the protracted problem.
The first round of direct peace talks between the Afghan government and all Taliban and other groups is expected to take place by the first week of March 2016 in Islamabad, said a joint press release issued here by the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) Tuesday.
