More than 100 taxi drivers gathered in Taipei on Wednesday to protest against Taiwan new leader Tsai Ing-wen's refusal to recognize the 1992 Consensus.
Taiwan's new leader Tsai Ing-wen should acknowledge the 1992 Consensus as soon as possible for the sake of the Taiwan people, a mainland scholar urged on Monday.
Hundreds of people from different parties and groups in Taiwan rallied on Wednesday in front of the headquarters of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), calling for adherence to the 1992 Consensus and maintaining peace across the Taiwan Strait.
Various achievements made during the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations would suffer if the political basis of the 1992 Consensus were undermined, a mainland spokesperson said Wednesday.
