9 Chinese injured in tour bus accident in northern Thailand's Chiang Mai

By APD writer Chen Jiabao BANGKOK, Mar.3 (APD) -- A van veered off and crashed into a convenience store in northern Thailand's Chiang Mai, injuring nine Chinese tourists, the Consulate General of China in Chiang Mai confirmed on Saturday. According to the consulate general, the accident happened in Saturday afternoon when the bus lost control and collided with a 7-11 store on its way to Chiang Mai from Pai, a famous tourist attraction town in northern Thailand. The consulate general said some of the tourists were seriously injured. The injured were rushed to hospital. Officials of the consulate general of China in Chiang Mai visited the injured in the first time. The consulate general has urged Thai police and tourism bodies to investigate the cause of the accident and follow up insurance claims. Chiang Mai, aka the rose of northern Thailand, has been popular with foreign tourists the beauty of its nature, art, culture and temperate flowers. The mountainous province has seen quite a few tour bus accidents since the beginning of this year. A tour bus driver and 10 Chinese tourists, including a two-month pregnant woman, were injured when their bus developed brake failure and crashed into two cars before plunging into a roadside ditch at the foot of a mountain in Chiang Mai in January.

BANGKOK, Mar.3 (APD) -- A van veered off and crashed into a convenience store in northern Thailand's Chiang Mai, injuring nine Chinese tourists, the Consulate General of China in Chiang Mai confirmed on Saturday.

According to the consulate general, the accident happened in Saturday afternoon when the bus lost control and collided with a 7-11 store on its way to Chiang Mai from Pai, a famous tourist attraction town in northern Thailand.

The consulate general said some of the tourists were seriously injured.

The injured were rushed to hospital.

Officials of the consulate general of China in Chiang Mai visited the injured in the first time.

The consulate general has urged Thai police and tourism bodies to investigate the cause of the accident and follow up insurance claims.
