Participants of Myanmar's Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) for Ceasefire Wednesday proposed to rename the Myanmar Peace Center, which has been working for the country's peace process, to National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC) .

The participants also proposed to appoint Tin Myo Win, personal doctor of State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, as the new peace mediator.

The JMC meeting, which began on Tuesday and is chaired by Lt-Gen Yapye from the military, was the first held after the new government took office on April 1.

Aung San Suu Kyi, on the second day of the meeting, called for continuing the unfinished peace conference already initiated by the previous government, saying that work on bringing those deemed appropriate for inclusion in the ceasefire efforts should also be done simultaneously.
