A 17-year-old Indian girl studying in class XI of a prominent south Delhi school was allegedly raped by two men at a New Year's party in a middle class residential zone in the Indian capital, local daily Times of India reported on Wednesday.

This incident happened as Indians are outrage at violence against women after the death of a 23-year-old medical student in a barbarous gang rape last month, triggering nationwide protests and demands for harsher measures to punish rapists.

This time the alleged rapists came from the country's booming middle class rather than spreading slums.

The two men, in their late 20s, work in leading IT companies and live in the well-off Sarojini Nagar. One is a computer engineer with an IT company, the other works in the human resource department of a blue-chip tech and consulting multinational.

The police have arrested them after the girl went to police station to report the rape. The accused were produced in Saket court on Tuesday afternoon and later sent to Tihar jail in the Indian capital.
