PATA Nepal Chapter participates in 2018 Guangzhou Maritime Silk Road Expo

A Nepali delegation led by its ex-Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kazi Shrestha took part in the just-concluded 2018 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo in Guangzhou City, south China Guangdong Province.

The delegation is composed of 19 delegates including PATA Nepal Chapter leaders Mr. Sunil Sakya (Chairman), Mr. Suman Pandey (Immediate Past Chairman) and Mr. Lila Bhandari (Proxy Member) as well as government officials from Karnali and other provinces.

Mr. Sunil Sakya delivered a speech at the Belt and Road Green Industrial Integration Forum

On behalf of the delegation, Sunil Sakya, delivered a speech at the Belt and Road Green Industrial Integration Forum, one of the sub-forums of the expo.

Noting the investment opportunities in Nepal, he stressed the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative in developing three key sectors; hydropower, tourism, and agriculture, which will boost the country’s economy.

Speaking of tourism infrastructure investment, he presented opportunities such as airports, roads, cargo terminals, highways, energy, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls etc. to Chinese investors.

Mr. Sunil Sakya gave address in the closed-door meeting during the forum.

Sakya also shed light on the initiative plays an equally important role in strengthening the aviation industry.

Opening from Oct 24 to 26, the expo, themed “Building a New Platform for Openness and Cooperation, Creating New Drivers of Shared Development”, attracted more than 1,000 delegates from 57 countries and regions.
