Japan's unemployment rate fell to 3. 8 percent in July, down from 3.9 percent in the previous month, according to official figures released Friday.

It was the second consecutive month of improvement, a positive signal of the Japanese economy.

The government said separately that the country's job availability improved for the fifth straight month, with the ratio of job offers to applicants up to 0.94 in July from 0.92 in June.

Menawhile, the north Asian country's consumer prices rose by 0.7 percent in July from a year earlier, registering a second straight month of increase, according to official data released on Friday.

The core consumer price index, excluding fresh foods, stood at 100.1 against the 2010 base of 100, said the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

The continuous rise of consumer prices may indicate that price falls, which have troubled the Japanese economy for more than a decade, are taking a U-turn, analysts said.

The Japanese industry ministry also said on Friday that the country's industrial production rebounded by 3.2 percent in July from the previous month.
