The press conference of the World Esports Championship (WEC) Asia Esports Championship (AEC) and World Esports Industry Development Conference (WEDC), hosted by the International Esports Federation (IESF), undertaken by China National Cyber Games (CNCG), and co-organized by Sichuan International Events Co. Ltd and AG Group, was held on Saturday in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province.

Attending the conference were Liu Fumin, former Director of the Economy Department of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) and the expert advisor of the AEC Organizing Committee, Boban Totovski, secretary-general of IESF, Wei Weige, vice-president of China National Sports Group (CNSG), Fu Wendong, chairman of Sichuan International Events Co. Ltd, and Le Kedeng, honorary chairman of Esports Association of Hong Kong, chairman of ESports Association of Chengdu, China (ESAHK) and the chairman of AG Group.

Liu Fumin said in his opening speech that esports, as an emerging sports and cultural phenomenon, has become one of the most popular entertainment ways for young people around the world.

"It is not only a sports competition, but also a platform for cultural exchange and creative display. The settlement of this event in China is not only the recognition of IESF on China's esports industry development, but also a successful "breakthrough" of China's esports industry globalization," Liu said. "In the past year, seven esports events staged their "official debut" at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. The excellent results of four gold and one bronze not only proved the strong strength of China's esports but also symbolized the booming trend of China's esports industry."

Boban Totovski, secretary-general of International Esports Federation, said that IESF, as an international esports organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has the largest influence in the global esports field, boasting the most member countries and the longest history.

"My organization has been committed to promoting the internationalization and regularization of esports in the world," Totoski said. "WEC is the official flagship event of IESF. As an important part of WEC, AEC and WEDC have both settled in China, which is the first time for IESF to appear in China, It will serve as an important prelude to the "Esports Olympics" from 2025 to 2026. It will also bring unique development opportunities and milestone significance to the development of the global esports industry, and will open a new chapter in the history of the future development of international esports."

The AEC and WEDC authorization ceremony was held at the press conference. CNCG was authorized by IESF as the host of AEC and WEDC. CNCG will be responsible for the establishment of a local organizing committee, as well as organizing, coordinating and implementing all matters related to the event and a series of activities.

Xu Ming, the chairman of CNCG, said that WEC, as the official flagship event of IESF, has been held 16 times in more than 10 countries and regions around the world. Each event has more than 1 million esports players from more than 130 countries and regions.

"As an important part of WEC, AEC and WEDC have now confirmed the participation of 42 Asian countries and regions, covering all major regions in Asia, with a large scale and wide range. There are 6 competition items in total, including DOTA2, PUBG Mobile, CS2, CS2 Women's, MLBB and MLBB Women's," Xu said. "The event will be largest in terms of participating countries and athletes."

"This cooperation will also promote China's esports industry to a higher level and a wider range, truly realizing the integration of "esports + industry", and injecting national strength into China's esports industry," Xu added.

A series of signing ceremonies for industrial integration cooperation were also held. CNCG signed cooperation agreements with Sichuan International Events Co. Ltd, AG Group, Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF), Beijing Tulip Culture Co. Ltd.

As the first step for international esports organizations to enter the Chinese market, the tournament will bring unique development opportunities to the development of the global esports industry. It is of milestone significance and will open a new chapter in the future development history of international esports.
