China reaffirmed its stance on the issue of the Korean Peninsula – achieving denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and negotiation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Saturday.

"As the situation of the Korean Peninsula [is] getting more complex and sensitive, we hope relative countries exercise restraint and make positive contributions towards the Korean Peninsula issue," said Hua.

Hua also called on the parties concerned to seriously consider the China-proposed dual track approach and suspension for suspension initiative.

The United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to adopt new sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Friday following its recent ballistic missile tests.
