The Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering on Tuesday introduced an app which supports patients with adiposity therapy.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering has developed an Android-based app that may help those affected patients lose weight successfully at home after an in-patient stay in hospital.

According to the Fraunhofer Institute, the app "Adipositas Begleiter" or "Obesity Companion" not only combines elements of learning and advising, but also serves the patient as a diary and feedback tool.

At the same time, it offers users the opportunity to get in contact with other patients and to get information about sports and self-help courses in the region.

The app serves not only as an intermediary between patients and doctors, but also enables the connection to telemedicine services. The function allows patients to get in touch with a therapist and receive medical advice.
