Coronavirus cases in Russia rise to 10

Another 6 people tested positive for coronavirus in Russia, bringing the number of cases of COVID-19 in the country to 10, TASS news agency reported on Friday, quoting Russia's coronavirus control and prevention task force.

"In the past 24 hours, 6 Russian citizens have been confirmed of the coronavirus, one of whom is in Nizhny Novgorod, while five others in Moscow. According to the epidemiological investigation, all these people visited Italy in the past two weeks," it said.

Russia confirmed its first two cases of COVID-19 in the Trans-Baikal and Tyumen regions on January 31.

The Russian government on Friday imposed a temporary ban on entry to Russia across the border with Iran for foreign citizens over the coronavirus situation in that country.

On Thursday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced a higher alert regime in the city and imposed extra measures to prevent a spread of the coronavirus.
