At least 14 people were killed and multiple others were unaccounted for as large and destructive tornadoes hit the southern U.S. states of Alabama and Georgia on Sunday, according to local officials.
At least 14 have been killed when at least two tornadoes hit the Lee County, Alabama, according to Jay Jones, the county's sheriff.
I can say that at this time we have 14 confirmed fatalities. And the search continues. We still have some people that are reported missing, the sheriff told local media.
The number of casualties could rise, officials said.
