Chinese Super League (CSL) club Jiangsu Football Club (FC) filed for bankruptcy on Sunday.
Jiangsu FC, which won their first CSL title last season, were reported to owe its players three months' wages and their title-winning bonus.
Based in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province, the club had its name changed from Jiangsu Suning to Jiangsu FC in early February. The move was in compliance with the Chinese Football Association's latest policy that sponsors' names will not be appearing in club names starting from the 2021 season.
