Huawei's PC sales surge 120% in Q1, while mobile phone sales fall

Huawei has seen its personal computer (PC) sales surge 120 percent in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, while its mobile phone sales were down 17 percent.Huawei's consumer business, which took 54 percent of its total revenue in 2019, achieved a year-on-year increase in total global sales in the first quarter of this year, said Huawei Consumer Business Chief Strategy Officer Shao Yang on Tuesday in Huawei Consumer Business Summit, held on the sidelines of the Huawei Analysts Conference.Besides PC and mobile phones, wearable gear sales grew 60 percent year on year in the first quarter, routers were up 70 percent and TWS or True Wireless Stereo headphone sales climbed 130 percent."Our growth in IoT (Internet of things) devices has compensated for the decline in mobile phone sales," Shao said.In terms of 5G phones, Huawei shipped 15 million 5G phones worldwide in the first quarter with a 40 percent market share around the globe, according to IDC data. Its 5G phones occupy a 63 percent market share in China.(CGTN)
