UK gives green light for travel to most parts of Tunisia

The UK government says it is no longer advising its citizens against travelling to Tunisia.
The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said risk to British nationals travelling to Tunisia has changed, and that they can now travel to most parts of the north African country, including the capital Tunis and major tourist destinations.
In June 2015, a gunman killed 30 Britons in the Tunisian resort town of Sousse, prompting the government to issue a travel advisory against all but essential travel to the country.
“This update reflects our latest assessment that the risk to British nationals in Tunisia has changed,” said Alistair Burt, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa.
“This is in part due to the security improvements that the Tunisian authorities and tourist industry have made since the tragic terrorist attacks in 2015, with support from the UK and international partners.”
The government however cautioned that there still remains risks for British nationals, saying that it continued to advise against travel to some parts of the country, including the regions near the Libyan border.
