APD | Indonesian air force acquires 8 H225M helicopters to expand military might

By APD writer Aditya NugrahaJAKARTA, Jan. 12 (APD) -- Indonesian air force acquired 8 more of Airbus H225M helicopters, adding the 6 ones already served its fleet.Acquisition of more H225M helicopters from the French aviation industry was intended to expand the air force’s combat capability as well as search and rescue (SAR) tasks.“We fully support Indonesian air forces’ option to take H225M helicopters to complete its fleet. The additional orders show Indonesia’s trust to Airbus helicopters,” Airbus Helicopters Executive Vice President Ben Bridge said in the statement released here on Friday.He added that the combat-proven helicopters has been highly preferred, operated by many countries in the world.Those 8 H225M helicopters would be assembled and fitted with additional combat features and SAR equipment by Airbus’ Indonesian partner PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI).PTDI has long history of partnering with Airbus as it was licensed to produce NBO 105 helicopters since 1976. The Indonesian aviation industry now teams up with Airbus to run maintenance center for Indonesian military helicopters.PTDI facility in Indonesia’s West Java province capital of Bandung now has production line for H225M helicopters. It also supplies body components for the helicopter.Besides Indonesia, the H225M multirole helicopter now is also operated by France, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia and Thailand. JAKARTA, Jan. 12 (APD) -- Indonesian air force acquired 8 more of Airbus H225M helicopters, adding the 6 ones already served its fleet.

Acquisition of more H225M helicopters from the French aviation industry was intended to expand the air force’s combat capability as well as search and rescue (SAR) tasks.

“We fully support Indonesian air forces’ option to take H225M helicopters to complete its fleet. The additional orders show Indonesia’s trust to Airbus helicopters,” Airbus Helicopters Executive Vice President Ben Bridge said in the statement released here on Friday.

He added that the combat-proven helicopters has been highly preferred, operated by many countries in the world.

Those 8 H225M helicopters would be assembled and fitted with additional combat features and SAR equipment by Airbus’ Indonesian partner PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI).
