APD | Cambodia asks China to increase the import volume of milled rice

By APD writer Kin RathaPhnom Penh, August, 9 (APD) --Cambodia asked China to expedite the checking process over the rice millers and rice exporters that want to export milled rice to China’s markets and also asked to increase the export quota for next year. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, recalled General Administration of Customs of the Republic of China to inspect the quality and safety in the second round of 40 rice milers and rice exporters named in the list.He made the recall in front of Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo while he represented the China Customs signing on a protocol to facilitate banana export to China with Cambodia on Thursday last week.The first round which composed of 26 rice millers and exporters were recognized by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) .Mr Sakhon asked China to increase the milled rice quota up to 400,000 tons importing from Cambodia in 2019, from 300,000 tons in 2018.In the first six month of this year, Cambodia exported 271,537 tons of the commodity to global markets, a 5.9 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.China is the biggest market of Cambodia’s rice importers, which imported 62,100 tons this year, and it has declined 34 percent compared to the same period.(ASIA PACIFIC DAILY)

Phnom Penh, August, 9 (APD) --Cambodia asked China to expedite the checking process over the rice millers and rice exporters that want to export milled rice to China’s markets and also asked to increase the export quota for next year. 

Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, recalled General Administration of Customs of the Republic of China to inspect the quality and safety in the second round of 40 rice milers and rice exporters named in the list.

He made the recall in front of Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo while he represented the China Customs signing on a protocol to facilitate banana export to China with Cambodia on Thursday last week.

The first round which composed of 26 rice millers and exporters were recognized by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) .

Mr Sakhon asked China to increase the milled rice quota up to 400,000 tons importing from Cambodia in 2019, from 300,000 tons in 2018.

In the first six month of this year, Cambodia exported 271,537 tons of the commodity to global markets, a 5.9 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

China is the biggest market of Cambodia’s rice importers, which imported 62,100 tons this year, and it has declined 34 percent compared to the same period.
