Americans filed new unemployment claims in the last week, the U.S. Department of Labor reported.

The latest U.S. jobless numbers bring the total unemployed since mid-March to 41 million.

The transportation industry has seen thousands of job cuts in the last week. American Airlines will slash about 5,000 positions, 30% of its management and support staff.
