Egypt arrested on Monday eight people for forming an international network of trading human organs, the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) said in a statement.
The network, run by a Palestinian woman, forged government documents and illegally attracted foreign patients wishing to have kidney transplantation surgeries, according to the ACA statement.
The defendants were brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution which ordered their detention pending investigation.
Egypt arrested and sentenced dozens of Egyptians and non-Egyptians for illicit trade of human organs over the past few years.
