U.S. Special Troops Arrive in S.Korea

(THE CHOSUNILBO)U.S.specialtroopsandrangershaverecentlyarrivedinSouthKoreatoparticipateinupcomingjointdrills,theU.S.ForcesKoreasaidWednesday.

The1stSpecialForcesGroup(Airborne)andthe75thRangerRegimentwerepreviouslyinvolvedincontroversialassassinationsinIraqandAfghanistan.

Theyarealsotrainedtoeliminateweaponsofmassdestruction.

ItisunusualfortheUSFKtoannouncethearrivalofspecialforces,andthemovewasprobablypromptedbyNorthKorea'srecentnucleartestandannouncementofanimminentrocketlaunch.

TheU.S.MarineCorpsandNavySEALspecialoperationsforcesarereportedlyalreadyinSouthKoreaandwillalsojointthedrillsinMarch.
