5.9-magnitude quake hits off Solomon Islands

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 jolted 56 km west of Kirakira, Solomon Islands at 0137 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 42.42 km, was initially determined to be at 10.3869 degrees south latitude and 161.4054 degrees east longitude.
