Six killed in twin accidents in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, Jan. 10 (APD) - Six people were killed in two separate accidents in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Four and one person sustained serious injuries following an accident in Mankulam near Sri Lanka’s northern Jaffna town.

The Police said that a lorry had crashed into a van resulting in the deaths.

The occupants of the van were those killed. The occupants were residents of the Jaffna area.

Meanwhile, the bodies of two fishermen were found while one person was reported missing following an accident at sea off Devundara in the south of the country.

The Navy said that a fishing boat collided with a ship around 13 nautical miles south of Devundara killing the two fishermen.

The Navy said that a search operation is underway to locate the missing fisherman.
