The number of deaths from the novel coronavirus reached 2,101 in the Netherlands on Tuesday after a daily high of 234 deaths was reported, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) announced on Tuesday. The daily death number of 234 came after the previous highest 175 was registered on Tuesday.

"In recent weeks, Tuesdays have consistently had the highest number of reports across the week," the RIVM stated. "This can be explained by the fact that many of the deaths and hospital admissions that occur on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are processed in the official records and reported on Mondays," explained the institute.

Meanwhile, 292 new hospital admissions made for COVID-19 patients, which resulted in a total number of confirmed cases who are or were admitted to hospital of 7,427. The number of positive tests to COVID-19 in the country grew by 777 to 19,580.
