Holiday traffic peak preparation

Traffic in the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday will also jump from last year.

With more severe winter weather than usual, the Ministry of Public Security is urging local police to strengthen traffic management in advance.

Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on February 10th, 2013.

Many Chinese, especially migrant workers, will travel home to spend the traditional festival with their families.

Local police have been urged to step up preparations for the upcoming traffic peak and heavy snow during the New Year to ensure passengers' a smooth journey.

Giving priority to coaches, school buses and vehicles carrying dangerous chemicals.

Police will also launch a safety check on vehicles and drivers within their jurisdictions and urge those with potential safety risks to rectify them.

According to the ministry, speeding, overloading, fatigue and drunk driving will be the focus of police road management.
