U.S. President Joe Biden issued a statement to the nation following a spate of mass shootings and gun violence that recently rocked the country.

"Over the last few days, our nation has once again endured a wave of tragic and senseless shootings in communities across America — from Philadelphia to Fort Worth, Baltimore to Lansing, Wichita to Chicago," Biden said, adding that he and his wife, Jill, are grieving for those lost.

Biden also mentioned last year's 4th of July mass shooting where a shooter opened fire with an assault weapon at a parade in Highland Park, Illinois.

"In mere moments, this day of patriotic pride became a scene of pain and tragedy.""It is within our power to once again ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, to require safe storage of guns, to end gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability, and to enact universal background checks," Biden said while calling for gun control measures.

Many conservatives and gun-rights advocates have opposed any type of gun reform or rules that they feel encroach on their Second Amendment right.

Two separate mass shootings on Monday, July 3 left at least seven dead and 10 injured, according to police.

A suspect in a bulletproof vest and a police scanner reportedly opened fire on strangers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, killing five people and injuring two others according to police. The suspect, a 40-year-old, reportedly surrendered to police.

A second mass shooting at a Fort Worth, Texas parking lot left at least three dead and eight injured, police say. The cause of the shooting is still under investigation.

These incidents come just a day after at least 30 people were shot at a Baltimore, Maryland block party which left two victims dead.
