The first China-Ukraine small and medium-sized enterprises business forum is scheduled to open in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, on October 9 to 10, which aims to enhance the bilateral economic cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative.

Themed “Jointly Build Silk Road Economic Belt, Setting up New Mechanism on Win-Win Cooperation”, this event will include one major forum, two plenary sessions and five roundtable conferences.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to the cooperative ties with Ukraine.

Ukraine has been listed into the first batch of 65 countries along the Belt and Road, which has brought a wide variety of opportunities to the bilateral cooperation.

As the political situation has become gradually stable, the eastern European country put the economic development as top priority.

Therefore, jointly building the “Silk Road Economic Belt” between Ukraine and China is conducive to Ukraine’s economic recovery and further development.

In 2015, the two countries signed contracts under the initiative to continuously boost policy communication and strategic connection.

Since Jan 1 2016, Ukraine-EU Free Trade Zone Treaty was put into practice, which brought new opportunities to China-Ukraine capacity cooperation and provided favorable conditions for setting up joint ventures in Ukraine.

So far, China has invested more than seven billion U.S. dollars in Ukraine. A large group of Chinese enterprises such as the China National Building Materials Group Corporation, the COFCO Corporation, Huawei Technologies Company actively invest in Ukraine.

China has become the second largest trader of Ukraine for five consecutive years.

Ukraine, the world’s third largest grain-exporting country, has advanced science and technology and solid equipment manufacturing.

At the meantime, Ukraine enjoys prominent geographical advantages and sound economic development.

With the results brought by the initiative and Ukrainian geographical and technological advantages, China is looking forward to closer ties with Ukraine.
