"Our security men nabbed him in the classroom building. Fortunately, he was seized before bursting into the classroom. Otherwise the situation may be even worse. And some injured students have run into the classroom after being stabbed."

However, some injured students told CNC that they were slashed by the knife-wielding man in the classroom.

"The man broke the door and windows, and burst into the classroom."

The student says there were more than 50 students in the classroom at that time. And all of them were dumbfounded as the slaughter began.

Some children ran out of the classroom.

On the third floor of the building, CNC correspondents notice the broken door, glass, as well as unfolded schoolbags.

"I use my hands to parry the knife slashing to my head. We ran out of the classroom and even didn't know my hands were hurt."

Cao told CNC correspondent that the school's monitoring cameras were of no use because the head in charge of monitoring was not at school then.

A safe, locked school gate also plays vital role as such incidents occur.

"The gate is locked all 24 hours, and no spare people can enter into our school."

"There's no one to watch the school gate, and any one can enter into the school. The security management is not tight."

Now the security man, also a teacher, is being investigated by police in the crime scene.

The attack took place around 7 a.m., when the suspect, 38-year old Min Yingjun, burst into an 85-year old woman's house, near Wanquan Primary School...

He allegedly hit her, before stabbing the elderly woman with a kitchen knife in the house.

Then he rushed to the school, where he is said to have knifed 22 young students, aged between six and twelve years old.

Police caught the suspect, who they believe to be "mentally ill".

Further investigation is under way.
