Hong Kong honors 283 people for contribution

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) C Y Leung has awarded 283 people in this year's Honors List, the HKSAR government announced Tuesday.

Two people received the Grand Bauhinia Medal, including Jose Yu Sunsay, founder of HKI Group, and Charles Ho Tsu-kwok, chairman of Sing Tao News Corporation Limited. Yu is commended for his long and outstanding community service to Hong Kong over the past three decades, and Ho for his distinguished service to the community, particularly his contribution to the media industry.

Eleven people received the Gold Bauhinia Star, 27 the Silver Bauhinia Star, two the Medal for Bravery (Silver), 10 the Distinguished Service Medals for the disciplined services and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and 43 the Bronze Bauhinia Star.

Two people were awarded Medal for Bravery (Bronze), 45 the Meritorious Service Medals for the disciplined services and the ICAC, 76 the Medal of Honor, and 45 the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service.

Twenty people received the Chief Executive's Commendation for Government/Public Service.

The recipients are from all walks of life and have been awarded in recognition of their significant contribution to Hong Kong or for their dedicated public and community service.

The presentation ceremony will be held in October.
