A festival to showcase the wedding culture of the seven Brunei Malay ethnic groups opened here Monday.
The festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, was aimed topromote and preserve the tradition and uniqueness of the local ethnic wedding culture. It also help further enhance the good relationship among the local ethnic groups through sharing their culture and experiences; and to give the local youth a better insight on different cultures in the sultanate, the organizers said.
The ministry also hopes that various ethnic groups can work closely together to further promote their culture through performances.
The seven local Brunei Malay ethnic groups are Brunei Malay, Belait, Bisaya, Dusun, Kedayan, Murut and Tutong. Each ethnic group will showcase their own wedding culture and traditional ceremonies as well as performances to the public during the four- day event.
