One soldier of the The NATO-led International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) was killed earlier Wednesday in an attack in western Afghanistan, confirmed the ISAF forces on Wednesday night.

"An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an attack by enemy forces in western Afghanistan today," the ISAF said in a statement.

Earlier on Wednesday, one suicide car bombing hit a U.S. Marine convoy in Laghkar Gah, the city capital of southern province of Helmand, four Afghan civilians and injuring 15 others. It is not clear whether the victim was killed at the same attack since local officials said the bombing also inflected casualties to the foreign forces there 555 km southwest of Kabul.

Around 98,000 ISAF forces have been serving in Afghanistan. The Majority of them will leave the country by the end of 2014.

Nearly 120 foreign soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since Jan. 1 this year.
