Pakistan to host two major Int’l squash events

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 17 (APD) -- Pakistan is all set to host two major international squash tournaments starting next week in the country’s capital Islamabad, an official statement said.

The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) said that they will hold the events, including Pakistan Open Men's Squash Championship and CAS Women International Championship at Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad from Dec. 19 to Dec. 23.

Logo and the promotional video about the events have already been released on Saturday.

As many as 48 international Squash players along with Pakistani players are participating in both the events.

In men's title Marwan El Shorbagy from Egypt is the top seed, whereas Annie Au from China’s Hong Kong has been seeded 1st in CAS Women International Championship, the statement said.

The qualifying rounds have started on Sunday, but the main round will commence from Tuesday.

Semi-Finals and Finals of both the championships will be played on Dec. 21 and Dec. 23 respectively.

Pakistan Open Squash Championship carrying a prize purse of 50,000 U.S. dollars cash prize is a prestigious tournament, which is returning to the squash circuit after a gap of 10 years.

The CAS Women International Championship carries a cash prize of 25,000 U.S. dollars in which top-ranking female squash players would be fighting for the coveted trophy.
