The black boxes of the Ukrainian passenger plane could be sent to Ukraine or France for decoding, Iran's Civil Aviation said Thursday, official IRNA news agency reported.

"Ukraine and France have proposed that the Iranian experts decode the black boxes in the laboratories of one of those countries," said Reza Jafarzadeh, spokesman of Civil Aviation.

"If the agreement is reached, the black boxes would be sent to one of those countries (Ukraine or France) to be decoded," he added.

On Jan. 8, the Ukrainian Boeing 737-800 aircraft from Tehran to Kiev crashed near Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, killing all 179 passengers and crew members on board.

Later, Iran's armed forces confirmed that an "unintentional" launch of a military missile by the country shot down the Ukrainian airliner.

Until recently, Iran had rejected the calls to send the black boxes to be re-read outside of the country. Tehran had asked for equipment to decode the black boxes inside Iran the participation of the countries concerned.
