HONG KONG, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The following are the latest developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia-Pacific countries.

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry Saturday morning reported 95 more deaths and 3,320 new COVID-19 cases since Friday in the country, taking the number of deaths to 1,981 and total cases to 59,662.

On Friday morning the number of COVID-19 cases in the country was 56,342, and the death toll was 1,886.

MANILA -- The Philippines on Saturday reported 147 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 10,610.

In a bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said a total of 1,842 patients have recovered from the highly infectious disease after recording 108 new survivors.

According to the DOH, eight more patients have died from complications related to COVID-19, pushing the country's COVID-19 death toll to 704.

KABUL -- With detection of 253 more COVID-19 positive cases over the past 24 hours, the number of patients infected with the virus has risen to 4,033 in Afghanistan, Public Health Ministry spokesman Wahidullah Mayar said Saturday.

Four new positive cases have been confirmed in Kabul, 71 in Herat and the remaining 178 are in other provinces of the country, Mayar added.

WELLINGTON, May 9 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand reported one confirmed case and one probable case of the COVID-19, taking the number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 1,492, the Ministry of Health said on Saturday.

Both of the new cases are linked to an aged care facility in Auckland, which had a COVID-19 cluster outbreak. ■
