President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani has met with visiting United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss ways to bring peace and stability to the country, according to a statement released by the presidential palace.

“We have seen horrible terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, like the last ones in Kabul. We have seen horrible terrorist attacks in Pakistan and around the world. It's time to unite against terrorism and that is my objective as Secretary-General of the United Nations,” said Guterres.

Guterres also said that the UN will continue to be a partner of Afghanistan.

He said the organization will support an Afghan-led peace process, protect the country's most vulnerable and disenfranchised communities and seek to help ensure a stable and prosperous future for all citizens.
