Data of China's seventh national population census shows a country with higher education level, more balanced gender ratio, larger youth group, active mobility, rising urbanization rate, abundant labor force and more ethnic minorities population, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying in a daily news briefing on Wednesday.

Hua was responding to recent foreign media hype that China is undergoing a demographic crisis.

Acknowledging that China is faced with structural problems such as a low birth rate and an aging population, Hua said China will formulate targeted strategies and policies to promote high-quality development.

Hua also pointed out that the population of ethnic minority groups in Chinese mainland has increased by 10.26 percent from 2010, while the increased figure of the Han people was 4.93 percent.
