At least 50 killed in huge fire at COVID-19 hospital in southern Iraq

At least 50 people were killed on Monday when a huge fire broke out in a hospital treating coronavirus patients in Iraq's southern province of Dhi Qar, local media reported.

The evening massive fire hit the quarantine center for coronavirus patients in al-Hussein Hospital in the provincial capital city of al-Nasiriyah, some 375 kilometers south of Baghdad.

Patients were evacuated when the fire spread in part of the quarantine center.

The Health Department of Dhi Qar Province declared a state of emergency after the fire.
