Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said Wednesday that his administration is dealing positively with the Russian efforts to find solutions to the Syrian crisis, according to the state news agency SANA.
Assad made the remarks during his meeting Wednesday with the visiting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who flew in earlier in the day for meetings with top Syrian officials over the fresh Russian efforts to hold a political dialogue between the Syrian opposition and government officials in Moscow.
According to SANA, Bogdanov delivered a letter from his president, Vladimir Putin, to the Syrian president regarding the cooperation and relations between both countries and the ongoing Russian support to Syria in the face of the rampant terrorism.
The Russian official informed Assad about his recent meetings with foreign officials and Syrian opposition figures, which are part of the efforts Moscow is excreting to prepare suitable conditions to bring the terrorism in Syria to a halt and to start a Syrian dialogue far from foreign interventions while supporting the national reconciliations as the basic step toward a solution in the country, according to SANA.
For his part, Assad stressed his country's support to any Russian-backed diplomatic effort, noting that Syria is dealing positively with the Russian efforts to find a political solution to the crisis.
SANA said that both sides agreed that any initiative to solve the Syrian crisis demands "serious" efforts to counter the terrorism and radicalism in the region by practicing real pressures from the international community against the countries that support the terrorism. Enditem
