Suzhou in east China’s Jiangsu Province issued a plan Thursday to reward high-end talents with up to 400,000 yuan (about 57,000 U.S. dollars) for their contributions in frontier research fields of the city.

The plan aims to reward high-end professionals from home and abroad that have made prominent contributions in frontier technological industries.

The award is set between 5 to 20 percent of the applicants’ annual salaries. The candidates are required to have continuously worked at least one year in the city with an annual salary of more than 400,000 yuan.

With a total of about 270,000 high-end workers, Suzhou is open to top professionals with ambitions in innovation and start-ups globally and has launched more than 30 policies to improve its talent management system.

The city plans to introduce 10,000 high-end talents within three years, with more than half of them from overseas.
