Kim Jong Un, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has visited a factory that made tires for the country’s missile-launching vehicles and called for it to raise production, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday.

The DPRK’s state news agency said that in September Kim tasked the Amnokgang Tire Factory with making tires for the “great event in November.”

On November 29, the DPRK reported that it had successfully tested a Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile and said the projectile could reach the whole of the continental United States.

Kim thanked the workers for producing the tires quickly "with domestic products, not depending upon imported equipment."

The KCNA said Kim called for efforts to raise production to meet the "daily increasing needs in developing the country's economy and beefing up national defense capabilities."
