Speaking of online retailing, who will come to your mind first?

In China, many people will say: Jack Ma

But on a global scale, most people would blurt out a name: Jeff Bezos.

Jeff

Bezos is the founder of Amazon, the biggest online e-commerce company in the world.

Born in New Mexico in 1964, Bezos graduated from Princeton University in 1986. In the summer of 1994, Bezos resigned the job of vice president of Financial Services Company D.E, and came to Seattle with his wife Makech (Mackenzie). Then he seized the opportunity of explosive growth of the Internet, founded Amazon.

After its stocks being listed in May 1997, Amazon has become one of the most successful e-commerce websites in the world. In August 2013, Bezos paid 250 million U.S. dollars for purchasing the Washington Post in his own name.

In the past 20 years, Amazon's profit has been at a loss, however, from an online bookstore, Amazon has become the world's top technology companies, and has the world's largest cloud service AWS (annual sales of $10 billion), robot and artificial intelligence.

So Amazon's shareholders are bullish on the company's long-term growth, which has sent Amazon's share price soaring.

In the evening on July 27, Bezos rose to 90.2 billion U.S. dollars as Amazon's share price rose! That made him surpass Microsoft founder Bill Gate and became the world’s richest man.

In the past 23 years, the title of world's richest man belongs to Bill Gates. In 2010 and 2012, Mexico's Carlos Slim (Carlos Slim) has been on the top, in 2008, Warren Buffett (Warren Buffett).

In the past two years, Amazon's stock price has continued to rise, and Bezos' personal assets have increased by 45 billion U.S. dollars. In March, Bezos was worth more than Buffett; since then, the market has been waiting for him to surpass Bill Gate.

However, when Amazon Friday reported its earnings for the quarter, its earnings were far worse than expected, despite net sales better than expected. Bezos just surpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates on Thursday, as the richest man in the world. After the earnings announcement, Bezos lost the throne of the richest man again. He has been there for only a short period of time.
