Kenya's COVID-19 caseload reaches 91,526

The number of COVID-19 infections in Kenya reached 91,526 on Saturday after the country reported 548 new cases from tests conducted over the past 24 hours.

The ministry of health said the new infections were confirmed from a sample size of 6,953 tests.

It noted that in the same period, four patients had succumbed to the disease, taking the country's total number of deaths to1,586.

Kenya is one of only seven countries in Africa that have registered more than 90,000 COVID-19 infections.

Its caseload is only shadowed by tallies reported by South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia and Tunisia.

In its briefing, Kenya's ministry of health also reported that 1,017 patients had recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of successful recoveries to 72,596.
