Nigerian troops rescue 16 families from Boko Haram in northeast state

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the killing of two Boko Haram insurgents and the rescue of 16 families in Madagali area of northeast Adamawa State.

The Commanding Officer in-charge of 28 Task-force Battalion, Mubi in Adamawa State, V.O. Ezugwu, a major general, told newsmen via telephone that the success was recorded Tuesday night during an encounter with the insurgents in Madagali Local Government Area.

Ezugwu said more than 100 cows were recovered alongside two AK- 47 rifles, six grenades, two pump action machine guns and 18 motorcycles from the fleeing insurgents.

He said the motorcycles were all destroyed.

The officer lauded the complementary effort of members of a vigilance group in the area for their support to the military.
