Conor McGregor shows Ireland's national flag before the UFC 246 match against Donald Cerrone of the United States.

Conor "The Notorious" McGregor (22W-4L-0D) of Ireland knocked out Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone (36W-14L-0D, 1NC)in a thrilling 41-second fight at the Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) 2020 opening event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

To open the welterweight (170 lbs) bout, McGregor missed with a big left hand but landed a knee as Cerrone dropped his head. The two switched to a clinch position, but the Irishman quickly used his shoulder to hit the face of his dizzy opponent, and later dropped Cerrone to the canvas after a series of kicks.

The unstoppable punches fell down like a storm on Cerrone's bleeding face, and when referee Herb Dean separated them, McGregor received an ear-splitting applause to brush off the failure that Khabib Nurmagomedov of Russia handed him 15 months ago.
