Suresh Raina, the mainstay of Chennai Super Kings' batting line-up, has been ruled of the side's next two IPL 2018 games versus Kings XI Punjab on Sunday (April 15) and against Rajasthan Royals on Friday (April 20) due to a calf injury.

Raina had suffered the injury during Chennai's home game versus Kolkata Knight Riders, their first match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in three years. After pinching a single off Sunil Narine in the 10th over, he experienced pain and received medical attention from the team's physio Tommy Simsek. Raina was eventually dismissed for 14 after he top-edged a pull to the fielder stationed at long-on. The veteran batsman also couldn't make a mark in the match against Mumbai, scoring four runs.

Chennai have already lost Kedar Jadhav after he sustained a hamstring injury in the side's opening fixture of the tournament against Mumbai Indians. Faf du Plessis, the South Africa captain, who is recovering from a finger injury and side strain, could be included for the side's next game.

Murali Vijay, who suffered a blow on his ribs during a net session before the match against Mumbai, has recovered and could make it to the side. Dhruv Shorey, Kshitiz Sharma, N Jagadeesan and David Willey, Jadhav's replacement, are the other options.

Chennai have won both their games so far. Dwayne Bravo's 30-ball 68 inspired them to a one-wicket win versus Mumbai, while Sam Billings's enterprising fifty helped the side to chase down a massive target of 203 against Kolkata.
