Weizhou Island is China's youngest extinct volcanic island and the largest island in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Colorful Beach on the southeastern part of the island consists of magnificent landforms like sea cliffs and wave-cut platforms.

The wave-cut platforms at the foot of sea cliffs are made of multi-layered flat volcanic rocks. Years of erosion gives it a distinct texture like a puff pastry. The platform is often revealed during low tide, with the landward side covered with sand, forming a perfect beach for locals and tourists to enjoy.
