Alfred Chan named new EOC head

(CHINADAILY) AnewchairmanhasbeennamedtosucceedYorkChowasheadoftheEqualOpportunitiesCommission(eoc).ChowwillbesucceededbyAlfredChanCheung-ming,whoisthecurrentchairmanoftheCommissionontheElderly.

Chow’sthree-yeartermofofficeendsonMarch31.ThegovernmentbeganassessingcandidatestoreplaceChowbackinSeptember.

Chan,whowaschosenfromalonglistof144candidates,isalsoChairProfessorofSocialGerontologyatLingnanUniversity.

LauraChaShihMay-lung,whochairedthesearchcommittee,saidChan’spassion,andextensivebackgroundinpublicservicemadehimacompetentcandidatetoheadtheequalopportunitieswatchdog.
