The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday announced 11 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of confirmed cases to 85, said the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

Meanwhile, the UAE has also recorded 17 recoveries on Thursday, the ministry added in a statement.

The ministry said the 11 cases confirmed on Thursday were already in quarantine before being confirmed, adding that the cases are being monitored, and are currently in a stable condition and are receiving all necessary medical treatment.

The UAE was the first among the Gulf countries to report COVID-19 cases.

On Feb. 2, the UAE iconic landmarks, including Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, in Dubai and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company headquarters in Abu Dhabi, were lit up in the colors of China's national flag in solidarity with its fight against the coronavirus.
