PHNOM PENH,Aug.15(APD) - Marriott International, a global multinational diversified hospitality company that manages and franchises a broad portfolio such as hotels, expanded by bringing its Autograph Collection to Cambodian market.
The company announced on Thursday last week that it had signed an agreement with The KHOM Hotel Phnom Penh, which developed by Wywaza Investment enabling Autograph Collection to make its debut in Cambodia with the KHOM Hotel.
The KHOM Hotel, slated to open in early 2022, will offer 130 guests rooms and suites and bring in a selection of culinary options a themed specialty restaurant, casual café and flexible buffet set-up – also composing of Sky Lounge and Bar featuring view of the capital.
Paul Foskey, Chief Development Officer for Asia Pacific of Marriott International, said Cambodia has seen an increase in both international tourist arrival and investment in the hospitality sector.
“We see a potential market in the sector here in Cambodia which we partnered with Wywaza Investment on the introduction of The KHOM Hotel, the first Autograph Collection brand in this market,” he said.
Cambodia welcomed 3.3 million holidaymakers during the first half of the year, an 11.2 percent hike. The country approved 959 of project investments from 2014 to 2018, amount valued at $23bilion, while a total of 153 projects with a combined investment valued at $5.2billion was green lighted during the first half of this year.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, Phnom Penh and coastal areas saw strong growth in tourist arrivals, with the capital welcoming more than 2 million people and the coast nearly 600,000, a 27 percent hike in both cases.
Early this year January, Marriott International had also teamed up with local conglomerate Chip Mong Group to develop a five-star hotel Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Phnom Penn which will open door by 2022.
